Demon Warlock was named 2004 Washington-bred horse of the year Saturday.
In addition to being named Horse of the Meeting during the 2004 Emerald Downs season, the Terry Gillihan-trained Demon Warlock won last year's Budweiser-Emerald Handicap and Muckleshoot Tribal Classic at the Auburn racetrack and finished second in the Longacres Mile (gr. III).
The 5-year-old Demon Warlock was also named top handicap horse.
Aunt Sophie, who won three stakes races at Emerald Downs in 2004, was named Champion Older Filly or Mare.
Court's in Session was honored as sprinter of the year. Court's in Session won the Bay Meadows Breeders' Cup Sprint Handicap (gr. III) on June 19.
Emerald Downs stakes winners Queenledo and Seattles Best Joe were also honored as 2004 Washington-bred champions. Queenledo, winner of the 2004 Knights Choice Stakes, was named top juvenile filly. Seattles Best Joe, who won the 2004 Sunnyslope Stakes at Santa Anita, earned top juvenile honors.
