Jockey Steve Bahen collected his 1,000th lifetime score aboard Queen's Plate hopeful Dave The Knave in Woodbine's second race on Friday afternoon, one day after fellow rider Martin Ramirez reached the same milestone at the Toronto oval.
Ramirez won his 1,000th race aboard Spanish Petition.
"It's a nice thing to reach," said Bahen, who piloted 82-1 T J's Lucky Moon to an improbable score in the 2002 Queen's Plate. "I have a lot of people to thank for their support over the years. I really wasn't thinking about it too much, though. I knew it would come sooner or later."
Bahen guided favored Dave The Knave ($2.80) to an off-the-pace one-length victory for trainer Robert Tiller over Chemistry Class and Bullish Executive in the six-furlong race.
Bahen, in his 20th year, won his first race in 1986.
Ramirez made his first win of the 2005 Woodbine meet a memorable one in Thursday's sixth race.
The native of Tijuana, Mexico, has competed mainly at Fort Erie during his Canadian riding career, but is attempting to make the jump to Woodbine this year.
Ramirez guided Spanish Petition ($11.50), a 4-year-old filly, to a front-running victory for owner-trainer Frank Huarte.
He earned his 1,000th win in his 26th mount of the current Woodbine meet and 6,983rd career ride overall.
