Champion jockey Frankie Dettori was banned from the upcoming Royal Ascot meet after he was handed a six-day suspension for careless riding.
Stewards imposed the ban after his ride on Royal Orissa in a June 2 race at Haydock. While racing toward the back of the field, the horse and Dettori appeared to edge right and interfere with Aversham, who fell. Dettori's mount was unplaced.
The suspension runs from June 13-18, which includes all five days of Royal Ascot. The meet, attended daily by Queen Elizabeth II, is being staged this year at York while sections of Ascot racecourse are modernized.
