Kentucky Derby and Preakness winner Funny Cide continued his preparations for the Aug. 3 Haskell Invitational when he breezed five furlongs at Belmont Park on Tuesday in a sharp :58.69. The time was third fastest of 20 horses working that distance on a fast main track.
Tuesday's work was the second for the New York-bred gelding since his loss in the Belmont Stakes, which deprived him of a rare and coveted Triple Crown.
The Barclay Tagg trainee is likely to face Blue Grass Stakes and Louisiana Derby winner Peace Rules in the Haskell at New Jersey's Monmouth Park.
