The victory by Folklore in the July 27 Adirondack Stakes (gr. II) opening day at Saratoga was more than just her first stakes win. It also was the first to represent her sire, Tiznow, the 2000 Horse of the Year. Perhaps more importantly, the $90,000 in first-place earnings moved Tiznow to the top of the freshman sires list, with $224,800 in progeny earnings.Folklore, a homebred for Robert and Beverly Lewis, went the six furlongs in 1:13.66. Her career earnings of $146,300 are the highest of any 2-year-old this year.Tiznow captured the Breeders' Cup Classic (gr. I) in 2000-01, and remains the sole horse to have won the race twice. A son of Cee's Tizzy out of the Seattle Song mare Cee's Song, Tiznow stands at WinStar Farm near Versailles, Ky.
