Littleton Arwen, who finished second in this year's Betfair.com Eternal Stakes, sold for 110,000 guineas (approximately $179,971) Wednesday to top the second day of the Tattersalls July sale in England. Epsom-based trainer Terry Mills purchased the 3-year-old daughter of Bahri -- Jathibiyah (by Nureyev).

Mills already trained the filly, whose owner was listed as Littleton Manor Racing in her first six career starts and as Mills in her last. But a Tattersalls press release reported that Mills was buying Littleton Arwen for new connections. She will return to Mills' Loretta Lodge Stables, which was listed as her consignor.

Winner of one race, Littleton Arwen was beaten only a nose by Tora Bora in the Eternal Stakes. Her dam is a half-sister to Irish One Thousand Guineas (Ire-I) winner Ensconse. The immediate underbidder was Patrick Cooper of BBA Ireland.

In all, 110 horses were sold for a gross of 1,214,100 guineas ($2,085,708), an average price of 11,037 guineas ($18,961), and a median price of 6,500 guineas ($11,166). Compared to a year ago, when 128 horses were sold, the gross and average declined by 17.8% and 4.4%, respectively, but the median remained the same. This year's buy-back rate was 8.3%.

The sale runs through Thursday.
