Race For Education to Help Four

The first four persons have been chosen to receive scholarships from The Race For Education, formed to help children of persons employed in the Thoroughbred industry continue their schooling.
The four students will receive a total of $55,000 between them which is for tuition only. The amount is that needed for them to complete their degrees.
The students are:
- Joseph Miller, $6,500, a senior at the University of Louisville. He is in his third year of the equine business program.
- Matthew Churchman, $20,000, a freshman at the University of Louisville. He plans to major in civil engineering.,
- Mary Beth Wethington, $13,500, a sophomore who will attend the Lexington Community College or University of Kentucky and study child psychology.
- Andrea Wallace, $13,000, a sophomore at Northern Kentucky University studying business.
Over 100 applications were received, the recipients chosen based on financial need, grade point, and personal interviews.
