Storm Cat Colt Tops Goffs France Summer Sale

Mogok, an unraced 3-year-old son of Storm Cat, topped the Goffs France summer sale on July 3 , bringing a bid of 135,000 euros ($155,858 in U.S. funds) from the Kern Lillingston bloodstock agency. Horse France was the immediate underbidder. A stallion prospect consigned by trainer Pascal Bary, Mogok will be sent to South Africa. He was bred by the Niarchos family's Flaxman Holdings.

Produced from the French group III winner Coup de Folie (by Halo), Mogok is a half-brother to European champion and successful sire Machiavellian (by Mr. Prospector). Mogok also is a half-brother to French champion Coup de Genie (by Mr. Prospector), French group I winner Exit to Nowhere (by Irish River), French group II winner Hydro Calido (by Nureyev), and French group III winner Ocean of Wisdom (by Mr. Prospector).

Of the 198 horses offered, 124 were sold for a gross of 2,290,800 euros ($2,644,729) and an average of 18,474 euros ($21,328). Last year, 128 of the 228 horses offered were sold, grossing 2,275,500 euros and averaging 17,777 euros.
