Velasquez Bags 4, Lengthens Downs Riding Edge

Jockey Cornelio Velasquez, who entered Thursday's Churchill Downs race card ahead of Pat Day 51-46, tacked on four wins on Thursday while Day had one victory.

Velasquez captured the fourth race aboard The Real Jewel ($10.00), Moonroper ($17.00) in the seventh, Dubai Sheikh ($5.20) in the ninth and Double Halo ($4.80) in the 10th.

Day won his lone race in the third aboard Cat's Craft ($6.20). Velasquez now leads 55-47 as he is looking for his first Churchill riding title in his initial meet riding under the Twin Spires.
