Footstepsinthesand will begin his Northern Hemisphere stallion career at Coolmore Stud in Ireland at a fee of 25,000 euros rather than for $30,000 at the farm's North American satellite, Ashford Stud near Versailles, Ky., as originally planned.
"A legion of breeders approached me and the team at the sales expressing their disappointment that Footstepsinthesand was going to America, so we've decided to re-route him to Ireland," Christy Grassick, general manager at Coolmore, told the Racing Post
about the 3-year-old son of Coolmore stallion Giant's Causeway
"He was an extremely talented racehorse, he's by the hottest young sire in the world. and he's a great looking individual from a quality family so I have no doubt that he'll prove to be a very successful stallion."
Footstepsinthesand, who was produced from the Rainbow Quest mare Glatisant, won all three of his starts, including the Ultimatepoker.com Two Thousand Guineas (Eng-I). He began his stallion career this year in Coolmore Australia.
