Daniel Borislow's Toccet took his first major step back on the comeback trail when he breezed 3 furlongs in :37 at Colonial Downs Tuesday.

Trainer John Scanlan said the son of Awesome Again galloped out a half-mile in :49 and change. "It was a very good work," Scanlan said. "When he works, he does it easily. If you ask him to, he'll go in :34. He's doing as good as ever if not better. Let's just say time did him well."

Scanlan said the plan is to point for the Sept. 1 Pennsylvania Derby at Philadelphia Park, with the main goal being the Breeders' Cup Classic. "The Pennsylvania Derby is doable if we have no interruptions," Scanlan said. "If anything at all goes wrong, then it's not doable. But we have a number of back-up plans. There's Plan A, Plan B, how many letters in the alphabet? We have a plan for every one."

Toccet has been sidelined since his victory in last December's Hollywood Futurity, in which he outgamed Kafwain. Previously, he had won the Champagne, Remsen, and Laurel Futurity. He fell off the Kentucky Derby trail while pointing for the Fountain of Youth Stakes, with what was ultimately diagnosed as a remodeling of the right hind cannon bone. The colt had been turned out in a paddock at Knockgriffin Farm in Lexington for 60 days before being shipped to Colonial Downs.

Following Toccet's retirement, the colt will stand at Will Farish's Lane's End Farm near Versailles, Ky.
