Paraneck Stables is offering a $50,000 bonus to the breeder of the first stakes winner from the respective 2007 foal crops of Song of the Sword and Lord Ofthe Thunder, both of whom will stand the 2006 season at Fox Tale Stud near Coopersburg. Pa.
In order to qualify for the bonus, the stakes must have a purse of $50,000 or more, and the foal must be a registered Pennsylvania-bred. If the foal is bred in a state other than Pennsylvania, the bonus will be $16,666.
"In my mind, Song of the Sword and Lord Ofthe Thunder have race records and pedigrees on par with any stallion in the mid-Atlantic," said Paraneck manager Ernie Paragallo.
Song of the Sword (Unbridled's Song
--Appealing Ms Sword, by Crusader Sword) placed in three stakes, including the Illinois Derby (gr. II) and Coolmore Lexington Stakes (gr. II) and earned a career total of $269,555. He stands his first season for $3,500.
Stakes winner Lord Ofthe Thunder (Saint Ballado--Astarte, by Deputy Minister) won seven races and earned $329,531. He moved to Fox Tale for 2006 after standing his initial season last year at Metropolitan Stud in New York. His fee is $2,500.
