Maturing Ten Most Wanted Drills for Swaps

Belmont Stakes (gr. I) runner-up Ten Most Wanted continued toward his scheduled start in the July 13 Swaps Stakes (gr. II) at Hollywood Park with a five-furlong work in :59 1/5 over the Inglewood, Calif., oval's fast main track on Thursday morning.

Under regular exercise rider Bruno Delgadillo, the colt's effort was the second-fastest of 32 who went five-eighths for the day.

"He's maturing," trainer Wally Dollase said. "I can see it even since the Belmont. He's getting stronger, his coordination is improving and I couldn't be more pleased with how he's doing."

Ten Most wanted, a son of Deputy Commander, is following the same plan as his sire, using the Swaps as a springboard to the $1 million Travers Stakes (gr. I) at Saratoga. Deputy Commander was second behind Free House in the 1997 Swaps, but was victorious in that year's Travers. Dollase also saddled 1984 Swaps hero Silver Music.

Ten Most Wanted finished three-quarters of a length behind Empire Maker in the Belmont after finishing ninth in the May 3 Kentucky Derby. From seven starts, Ten Most Wanted owns a record of 2-2-1 and earnings of $573,460.

Dollase also confirmed the addition of allowance winner Primerica to the Triple Bend Breeders' Cup Handicap, a grade I event at seven furlongs on the main track July 5. He said recent grass allowance hero Irish Warrior is going to the American Handicap (gr. IIT) on July 4 where he will again meet up with grade II winner Decarchy, whom he defeated by a nose in their last meeting two weeks ago.
