John D. Gunther's Eye of the Tiger was in good shape Tuesday morning, two days after earning his first stakes win in the Affirmed Handicap (gr. III) at Hollywood Park. The bay colt was confirmed as probable for the July 13 Swaps Stakes (gr. II) by Art Calva, assistant to trainer Jerry Hollendorfer and the son of American Chance is expected to return to the track on Friday.

"That was an impressive move he made slipping up the inside," Calva said. "He really ran great, came out of the race great and will probably run next in the Swaps, providing everything goes well between now and then. He's really been training well here over the last few weeks and ran like we thought he would."

Eye of the Tiger won the Affirmed in his first start since finishing fifth in the May 3
Kentucky Derby (gr. I). He previously was second in the Lexington Stakes (gr. II) at Keeneland and third in the San Pedro Stakes at Santa Anita. He's banked $185,329 with three wins, a second and two thirds from seven lifetime starts.

A pair of runners also considered likely for the Swaps are Belmont Stakes (gr. I) runner-up Ten Most Wanted and Lazaro Barrera Memorial Handicap (gr. III) hero Blazonry.
