G. Watts Humphrey Jr.'s Jaramar Rain won the $100,000 New Castle Handicap at Delaware Park Sunday.

Ridden by Rodrigo Madrigal Jr., the 4-year-old daughter of Thunder Gulch notched a five-length score in the race originally scheduled for the turf, but transferred to the main track because of the course condition.

The 3-to-5 favorite, Alternate, with Ramon Dominguez astride, finished second and it was another 8 3/4 lengths farther back to Katzen, with Oliver Castillo aboard, in third.

Jaramar Rain covered the 1 1/8 mile over a fast main track in 1:50.40 and returned $6 as the second choice in the field of four. The Kentucky-bred trained by George Arnold Jr. increased her career record to five wins from 13 outings with earnings of $259,170.
