Mr. Trieste drew away for a 3 1/2-length victory in a 5 1/2-furlong maiden race at Churchill Downs Saturday, giving his sire Old Trieste his first win.

It was the second start for Mr. Trieste, who was timed in 1:04.04 on a fast track under jockey Pat Day. Bred in Kentucky by Cobra Farm, Mr. Trieste is out of the graded-stakes placed winning Silver Deputy mare Angel's Tearlet.

A multiple graded stakes winner, Old Trieste stood at Darley at Jonabell near Lexington prior to his death in January.

Old Trieste won six of 14 starts and earned $847,944 for Cobra Farm Inc.
