Hermitage Farm owner Carl Pollard announced Friday that he has sold the western-most 180 acres of the farm to Hermitage Properties LLC, a limited liability company headed by Ron Carmicle.
Pollard, chairman of the board of Churchill Downs, Inc., has owned Hermitage Farm, that in Oldham County, just northeast of Louisville since 1994.
Pollard said the sale was not contingent upon zoning and he has requested his engineers and attorneys to advise Oldham County Planning and Zoning that he is withdrawing his application for the zoning change of approximately 220 acres submitted last November.
The remaining 500+ acres of the farm will continue as a commercial Thoroughbred breeding operation and Pollard will continue to live on the farm.
