Katherine North has joined the Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders Association as membership manager, responsible for membership development, coordination of TOBA seminars and clinics, and assisting with the organization's National Awards Dinner.
North comes to TOBA from Lexington's Lafayette High School, where she taught Spanish. Before that, the Lexington native and University of Alabama graduate was a special events coordinator at Hialeah Park in South Florida. "I am looking forward to promoting the Thoroughbred industry through TOBA programs," North said. "I am thrilled to be in a position to support owners and breeders in such a positive way."
Projects managed by TOBA include the American Graded Stakes Committee, The Greatest Game, Claiming Crown and America's Day at the Races. TOBA is also represented on the board of directors of the National Thoroughbred Racing Association as a founding member and on the American Horse Council. Founded in 1961, TOBA is the parent company of Blood-Horse Publications.
"We are excited to have Katie join us in our efforts to improve the sport on behalf of owners and breeders," said Dan Metzger, president of TOBA. "Her experience and enthusiasm will be a valuable asset to TOBA."
