Dubai Destination, center, on the way to winning the Queen Anne Stakes at Royal Ascot.
Dubai Destination stamped himself as a horse to watch by scoring a four-length victory over Tillerman in the Queen Anne Stakes (Eng-I) at Royal Ascot. Right Approach was three-quarters of a length back in third. Favored Hawk Wing finished a dismal seventh in the 10-horse field. The winner completed the mile distance in 1:38.56.
Under jockey Frankie Dettori, Dubai Destination moved to the front of the pack with one furlong remaining before drawing clear of his rivals.
The Queen Anne was the second consecutive group victory for the 4-year-old son of Kingmambo. He began the season with a six-length win in the June 4 Scottish Equitable/Jockeys Association Stakes. As a juvenile, Dubai Destination won the Rothmans Royals Champagne Stakes (Eng-II) before missing the majority of his 3-year-old season due to injuries.
Saeed bin Suroor conditions Dubai Destination for Sheikh Mohammed's Godolphin operation.
On behalf of Mohammed, bloodstock agent John Ferguson purchased the American-bred colt for $1,500,000 at the 2000 Keeneland July yearling sale from the consignment of his breeder, Calumet Farm.
Calumet bred Dubai Destination from the Alleged mare Mysterial, who made two starts in the Devil Red and Blue colors of Calumet Farm.
Mysterial produced a 2-year-old full brother to Dubai Destination, Destination Dubai, who Ferguson purchased from the Calumet consignment for $1,500,000 at the 2002 Keeneland July yearling sale on behalf of Godolphin.
