Born in San Antonio Nov. 18, 1944, Frannie Stewart, along with her husband, Don, owned Oak Tree Ranch near Bandera, Texas. Stewart, herself a lifetime member of the Texas Thoroughbred Association, served on the association's board of directors for three years from 1996-1998 and also sat on the board of the Texas HBPA.
Originally involved in the cattle industry, the Stewarts created an efficient breeding and sales prep facility in Oak Tree Ranch. With the help of farm manager and current TTA director Bill Tracy, Oak Tree Ranch became one of the leading consignors at the Texas sales and has been active in selling and buying at other yearling markets around the nation. The Stewarts also had success with Quarter Horse runners as the owners and breeders of 2000 Ruidoso Futurity winner Fightin Jane.
This past June, Frannie and Don hosted TTA South Region members at their farm for a regional meeting.
A memorial service will be held in Stewarts honor Sept. 30, at 2 p.m. at Grimes Funeral Chapel at 1204 Mulberry in Bandera. For more information, contact the chapel at (830) 796-3922 or e-mail email@example.com.
