Juddmonte's Nebraska Tornado crosses t he finish line first in the French Oaks.
Less than 24 hours after Juddmonte Farm's homebred Empire Maker won the Belmont Stakes (gr. I), owner Khalid Abdullah scored another classic double when homebred Nebraska Tornado won the Prix de Diane (Fr-I, French Oaks).
A Kentucky-bred daughter of Storm Cat -- Media Nox (by Lycius), Nebraska Tornado maintained her unbeaten record from three career starts with a smooth, three-quarter-length success at Chantilly.
Jockey Richard Hughes kept Nebraska Tornado close to the front and out of trouble by the rail to beat the British-trained Time Ahead with some authority, with the Gainsborough Poule d'Essai des Pouliches (French One Thousand Guineas, Fr-I) winner Musical Chimes, trained like the winner by Andre Fabre, a length behind in third. This was a canny piece of training by Fabre considering Nebraska Tornado had been hugely stepped up in class having previously won two minor races in France.
