El Dorado Shooter Fires in Bay Meadows Sprint

El Dorado Shooter gunned from his outside post position in Saturday's $142,500 Bay Meadows Breeders' Cup Sprint Handicap (gr. III) with jockey Chad Schvaneveldt and the 6-year-old speedster was never threatened in an easy victory.
Covering the six furlongs in 1:08 3/5, El Dorado Shooter, carrying top weight of 120 pounds, defeated Halo Cat by 4 3/4 lengths, with 22-1 Radar Contact six lengths behind the winner. Presidio Heights, the 2-1 favorite in the six-horse field, finished fifth, losing by eight lengths.
El Dorado Shooter, a California-bred chestnut gelded son of Man From Eldorado, went :21 3/5, :43 2/5 and :55 3/5 while opening a four-length lead in the stretch over fading Presidio Heights, who chased the winner all the way around.
Coming off a six-length win in the Saratoga at Bay Meadows May 18, El Dorado Shooter captured his 12th win in 23 starts. He earned $82, 500 for owner Barbara Delima and her husband, trainer and breeder Clifford Delima, pushing his career bankroll to $529,740.
El Dorado Shooter, the third choice as one of three horses sent off at 2-1, paid $6.60, $3.40 and $2.60. Halo Cat, ridden by Russell Baze, returned $3 and $2.40. Radar Contact, showed for $3.40.
