With less than an hour until post time for the Belmont Stakes (gr. I), Funny Cide is the 4-5 favorite of the wagering public. It goes without saying New Yorkers want to see the New York-bred gelding become racing's 12th Triple Crown winner.

Many fans early in the day purchased souvenir tickets, something that obviously has helped keep his odds low, but Funny Cide is a solid choice to become the first Triple Crown winner since Affirmed in 1978.

Empire Maker is the 7-2 second choice, and as post time nears, the odds of those two could get a bit closer. Many experts believe it is a two-horse race between Funny Cide, who won the Kentucky Derby (gr. I) and Preakness Stakes (gr, I), and Empire Maker, who ran second in the Derby and bypassed the Preakness.

The odds, as of 6 p.m.:

Empire Maker, 7-2
Supervisor, 10-1
Scrimshaw, 8-1
Funny Cide, 4-5
Dynever, 7-1
Ten Most Wanted, 7-1
