A talented field of 11 sophomore fillies, led by Quite a Bride and Brownie Points, are set to go postward in the $150,000 Ms. Revere Stakes (gr. IIT) Nov. 18 at Churchill Downs.
Carrying a top-weight assignment of 121 pounds Quiet Bride will be making her first start at Churchill Downs since her maiden debut in November 2005. The Bill Mott-trainee enters the 1 1/16-mile race off a two-length win in the Pebbles Stakes at Belmont Park. She was unplaced in the grade I Garden City Breeders' Cup Handicap after finishing third in the Lake George Stakes (gr. IIIT). She scored a front-running win in the Boiling Springs Stakes (gr. IIIT) at Monmouth Park where she established a new course record for 1 1/16 miles in 1:41.37.
Bred in Florida by her owners, Haras Santa Maria de Aratas S.A., the 3-year-old daughter of Stormy Atlantic
out of Wise Bride, by Blushing Groom, will break from post 11 with Cornelio Velasquez aboard.
Giving a solid challenge to Quite a Bride will be the Donnie Von Hemel-trained Brownie Points. A Kentucky-bred daughter of Forest Wildcat
out of Stylish Society, by Forty Niner, Brownie Points enters the race off a 3 3/4-length win in the Remington Park Breeders' Cup Oaks and a length score in the Marie P. DeBartolo Oaks.
A homebred racing for Pin Oak Stud, Brownie Points will break from post four with Luis Quinonez around.
Another filly to watch is Gasia. The daughter of Silver Deputy
out of Gaslight, by Theatrical
is trained by Larry Jones. Gasia enters the race off a third-place effort in the Martha Washington Breeders' Cup Stakes and a second-place finish in the Monmouth Park Breeders' Cup Oaks (gr. III). She has wins this season in the Susan's Girl Breeders' Cup Stakes and the Instant Racing Breeders' Cup Stakes.
Eddie Castro gets the mount aboard Gasia. The pair will break from post three.
