Eye of the Tiger in Brilliant Drill for Affirmed

Trainer Jerry Hollendorfer confirmed Wednesday that the $100,000-added Affirmed Handicap (gr. III) on June 22 is the next goal for Eye of the Tiger after the 3-year-old colt worked seven furlongs in a bullet 1:24.80 here in company with Yougottawanna.

"The 'Tiger' has been doing real good since the Derby," said Hollendorfer of the fifth-place finisher in the Kentucky Derby (gr. I) on May 3. The Affirmed is for 3-year-olds at 1 1/16 mile and serves as a prep for the $400,000 Swaps Stakes July 13.

Northern California-based Hollendorfer, who has 14 horses stabled here with foreman Arthur Calva, said he would become a more visible presence at Hollywood after June 15.
