Delahoussaye Mourns Loss of Sunny's Halo

Hall of Fame jockey Eddie Delahoussaye, who rode Sunny's Halo to victory in the 1983 Kentucky Derby, mourned the loss of the horse, who was euthanized Tuesday.

"It was sad to read that he was gone," said Delahoussaye Wednesday in the Hollywood Park stable area. "He was a horse that was so honest and had so much talent. To show that talent in the Kentucky Derby was something special.

"When he won the Arkansas Derby, I told Craig O'Bryan, my agent at the time, that if this horse stays healthy, he will win the Kentucky Derby. It was shame he got sick with hives after the Kentucky Derby. He was kind of forced to run in the Preakness and didn't run his race."

Sunny's Halo, 23, died in Texas.

Delahoussaye, 51, is beginning work as a bloodstock agent.
