Longtime Philadelphia Park Trainer Robert Scetta Dead
Veteran Philadelphia Park trainer Robert Scetta, 63, died June 1 of a heart attack at his home in Bensalem, Pa.Scetta, a native of Rhode Island, began training on the New England circuit before coming to Philadelphia in the early 1980's. While he never trained stakes-caliber horses, Scetta's runners filled many races for the Philly racing office, with many of them making more than 35 starts per year. He often said his training philosophy was one of "walk 'em and run 'em," learned from his days in New England. He also did his own shoeing.
