Jockey Norberto Arroyo Jr. was thrown from his horse Sunday, falling heavily to the track near the end of the seventh race at Aqueduct. His mount, Ruby Hill, ducked out suddenly nearing the wire, causing Arroyo to lose his balance.

Arroyo was taken to North Shore University Hospital for observation.

In the ninth race, La Ville Rouge dumped jockey Mike Luzzi just out of the gate at the start of the feature race, the Athenia Handicap (gr. IIIT).
