Dominguez Wins Five at Aqueduct Friday

Jockey Ramon Dominguez rode five winners from eight mounts over Aqueduct’s inner dirt track on Friday afternoon.

Dominguez, who also rode five winners at Aqueduct last March,  began his assault on the day’s card with Alley Singer ($4.40) in the first race, and then followed with victories in the third with Pennyrile ($4.90); the sixth riding Time Piece ($8.60); the seventh on Charming Jim ($9.00) and the eighth aboard Cavallo Pazzo ($5.30).  He ran third in the ninth and final race with 4-5 favorite Loyal Chief.

“I’m very, very happy with the way the day turned out,” said Dominguez. “I rode a lot of good horses and they performed well.Today was one of those days where I knew I was riding a lot of good horses. Going into the day, it looked like I should win a bunch of races, but you know how this game goes. I really wasn’t surprised by any of the winners. This was a very nice accomplishment.”

Anthony Dutrow trains Pennyrile, Charming Jim and Cavallo Pazzo.

Aqueduct’s leading rider this meet, Dominguez now has 55 wins and is nine ahead of Eibar Coa, who was shut out Friday afternoon.
