A yearling filly by Dream Run went to Alton “Bud” Ison for $45,000 to top the final session of the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Company’s 2007 Winter Mixed Sale on Jan. 20.
Consigned by agent Kim Harrison for Thomas-Lakin Dispersal, the gray or roan filly is out of graded stakes winner Rosie O’Greta, by Fight Over.
A yearling colt by Red Bulletconsigned by Summerfield (Francis & Barbara Vanlangendonck), was sold to Rip Curl Acres for $40,000. The bay colt is out of Symphonius, by Hennessy.
Dwayne D. Stanul went to $38,000 for a yearling colt by Tiger Ridge consigned by Wings Ranch, Agent. The dark bay or brown colt is out of Stormin Sally, by Well Decorated.
For the session, 200 horses sold for a total of $1,082,600, averaging $5,413 with a $3,600 median price. The buyback rate was 22.5%.
For both open sessions, Jan. 19-20 combined, 383 horses grossed $2,206,600 averaging $5,716 with a median price of $3,800. The buyback rate was 25.2%. At last year’s single open session, 211 horses brought $1,123,500, averaging $5,325 with a $2,700 median.
For the two consignor preferred sessions, 148 horses sold for a total of $4,714,500, averaging $31,855 with a median price of $21,000. The sale topper was Miz United States, a stakes winning mare by Valid Appeal in foal to Songandaprayer , purchased by Stonestreet Thoroughbreds for $260,000. Consigned by Summerfield, the 10-year-old dark bay or brown mare is out of Stolen Skates, by Overskate, and is a half sister to stakes winner Stolen Prayer, by Songandaprayer. This was the second trip through the OBS sales ring for Miz United States, as she was first sold for $110,000 at the March Sale of Selected 2-Year-Olds in 1999.
Next on the OBS agenda is the February Selected Sale of 2-Year-Olds in Training at the company’s sales grounds in Ocala, set for Feb. 13 at noon. The under tack preview is scheduled for Feb. 4 and the under tack show is set for Feb. 11, both at 9 a.m.
