Pacesetting Vespone, ridden by Christophe Lemaire, was never seriously challenged in comfortably winning Sunday's Prix Jean Prat (Fr-I) at Chantilly by three lengths.
In registering his first group I victory, the son of Llandaff ran away from British invader Audience, French stakes winner Tashkandi and Art Moderne in the final furlong. Prince Kirk, with Frankie Dettori riding, kicked home smartly to claim second from Tashkandi. Vespone covered the nine furlongs on a good turf course in 1:47.2.
The win was trainer Nicolas Clement's second in the Prix Jean Prat, which he claimed 10 years ago with La Belafre. Vespone won for the third time in five career starts.
