Rosie Napravnik, Maryland’s top rider in 2006, has been released from the hospital but will miss some time after suffering a back injury in a spill at Laurel Park Friday afternoon.
Napravnik, who was released Friday night, took off her mounts Saturday and Sunday and will not take calls for the Jan. 31 program.
“All the x-rays were negative but we are planning to see another doctor on Monday just to be sure,” said John Faltynski, Napravnik’s agent.
The 18-year-old sensation had 259 victories at Laurel Park and Pimlico last year and led all riders in winning percentage (21.3%) while capturing the riding titles at all four meets.
Napravnik was injured Friday when her mount, Look Out Lorie, fell while galloping out following the sixth race at Laurel. A second rider, Ryan Fogelsonger, was sore and shaken after his horse, Known Thief, tripped over the fallen horse.
