(Edited press release)
With sell-out performances throughout North America and Europe, The Police have confirmed a July 14 performance under Churchill Downs' Twin Spires in Louisville.
"Churchill Downs is pleased to welcome The Police to perform at the home of the Kentucky Derby," said track president Steve Sexton. "Last September, we hosted our first major concert and were thrilled with the reaction from concert-goers and the community. We are delighted to again play host to a major concert event that will bring economic benefit to the city and surrounding communities, and possibly establish another major event tradition in Louisville."
Tickets will go on sale March 26, at 10 a.m. EDT. Tickets priced at $225, $90, and $50 will be available at all Ticketmaster locations, ticketmaster.com and levnation.com. Tickets are not available for sale through Churchill Downs. Concert seating will be available in portions of the track's grandstand and clubhouse areas, as well as limited seating around the concert stage, which will be positioned in the infield, facing the grandstand. There will be a six ticket limit per customer.
Special guest Fiction Plane will join The Police for the North American portion of the tour, including the Churchill Downs event.
A portion of the proceeds from this tour will be donated to WaterAid, an international NGO founded in 1981 and dedicated to reducing poverty by improving access to safe water, sanitation and hygiene education. For more information, visit www.wateraid.org.
