Carson City, a member of the Overbrook Farm stallion corps that includes the incomparable Storm Cat, has bettered his illustrious stallion mate this year. The 16-year-old son of Mr. Prospector has earned top status on both the general and 2-year-old lists by progeny earnings. Carson City has held the lead on the general list since the end of March, but his ascent to the top of the juvenile list came after his son Cuvee won the May 26 Kentucky Breeders' Cup Stakes (gr. III) at Churchill Downs and earned $109,554 in the process. The 63rd career stakes winner for Carson City, unbeaten Cuvee has earnings of $134,429.
Carson City, who was produced from the Blushing Groom mare Blushing Promise, is represented by the earners of $3.2 million this year. He stands as the property of Overbrook, which is owned by William T. Young and located near Lexington.
