(Edited press release)
The Belmont Bash, hosted by the New York Racing Association and The Jockey Club, will be held at the historic Hudson Theatre at the Millennium Broadway Hotel in New York City June 8.
The Bash once again will benefit Grayson-Jockey Club Research Foundation and will feature cocktails, dinner, and musical entertainment by the Beatles tribute band The Fab Faux. Tickets are $350.
“Raising funds for an equine charity whose sole purpose is improving the health and welfare of the horse is the perfect way to spend the eve of New York’s classic race, the Belmont Stakes (gr. I),” said NYRA President and CEO Charles Hayward. “The Fab Faux were a big hit at last year's Belmont Bash, and we are honored and excited to have them back.”
The Hudson Theatre was built in 1903 by Henry B. Harris, who later perished aboard the Titanic. It features Tiffany ceilings, spectacular chandeliers, and Tiffany mosaic tiles that have been restored to their opening-night appearance.
In the 1950s, the Hudson Theatre was home to NBC’s The Tonight Show with host Steve Allen. Entertainment legends such as Bob Hope, Elvis Presley, Ernie Kovacs, Milton Berle, Sammy Davis Jr., Barbara Streisand, and Vincent Price have graced the theater's stage.
Formed in the spring of 1998, The Fab Faux have been wowing fans, including fellow musicians and celebrities, at venues throughout the New York metropolitan area and beyond.
The band comprised of: Will Lee, bassist for Paul Shaffer’s CBS Orchestra on Late Show with David Letterman; Jimmy Vivino, guitarist and arranger for the Max Weinberg 7, the house band on Late Night with Conan O'Brien; Frank Agnello; Rich Pagano; and Jack Petruzzelli.
