Gryder to Rest Injured Shoulder

Jockey Aaron Gryder, coming off a strong Santa Anita meet, will be sidelined for about three weeks with a shoulder injury, agent Tony Matos confirmed Friday.

Gryder, 36, suffered the injury during a race at Santa Anita a few weeks ago and has been battling pain since, according to Matos. “He had an MRI taken, and the doctor told him to rest it,” said Matos.

Gryder, a native of West Covina who led the Hollywood Park Autumn Meet as an apprentice in 1987, spent most of his career in New York before returning to Southern California at the end of 2005. He hit the 3,000-victory plateau this year.
