Kiss A Native, with Mickey Walls aboard, runs to victory in the $250,000 Pegasus Handicap on Friday night at the Meadowlands.
Kiss A Native won the $250,000 Pegasus Handicap on Friday night, beating Cool N Collective by five lengths in the race for 3-year-olds at the Meadowlands. Pine Dance finished third.
Thistyranthasclass set the early pace with Cool N Collective tracking in second place. Kiss A Native rallied from just off the pace and drew away in the stretch for the win. Pine Dance, last early, finished a nose behind Cool N Collective.
"It's obvious now that he's ready for the next level," trainer David Bell said. "We'll probably give him a month off and then decide where to go with him."
Ridden by Mickey Walls, Kiss A Native ran 1 1/8 miles in 1:48.33 on a fast track, and paid $10.40, $5.20 and $3.60. Cool N Collective returned $13.60 and $6.60, and Pine Dance paid $4 to show. The exacta paid $140.60. Thistyranthasclass, Cat's At Home, Blaze and Blues, and 8-5 favorite Mass Market completed the order of finish.
Kiss A Native (Kissin Kris - Ronique, by Raise a Native) has eight victories in 12 starts with earnings of $736,940 for owner John Franks. (Chart,
