(Edited press release)
Chrisman Mill Vineyard, located near Lexington, has recently released its second bottle of wine featuring a sketch from the "Artist Signature Series," an ongoing collection of retired racehorse portraits created by well-known actors.
The sketch on the second featured bottle, which contains a blush wine called Sweet Jessamine Rose, was created by Albert Brooks. On the label of the bottle, the actor and comedian choose to portray Riva Way, who is a son of Tinners Way (by Secretariat) out of a daughter of Riva Ridge, who is kept at the Thoroughbred retirement farm Old Friends.
By purchasing the wine bottle adorned with Brooks' sketch on the label, a portion of the sale will be donated to Old Friends.
"We wanted to continue our support of the great cause that Old Friends offers, and we will continue the artist designer label as an ongoing project," said Denise Nelson, owner of Chrisman Mill. "The passion that Old Friends has for the racehorses matches our passion. We are so proud to be part of this wonderful fundraising opportunity."
The limited edition artist wine series is available at all Liquor Barns in Lexington and Louisville, Ky., as well as Baccus Wines located in Midway, Ky.
Mail orders are also available to selected states by calling (859) 881-5007 or visiting www.chrismanmill.com. Each series has 1000 bottles reserved for the personal sketch. The first bottle featured a sketch of miniature horse Silver Charm by actor Jack Nicholson.
