Edited release from Barretts
Records were set for gross sales and average price at Barretts 2007 summer sale, held Tuesday at the Hinds Pavilion at Fairplex in Pomona, Calif.
Overall, 89 horses sold for $1,680,200, averaging $18,879, compared to last year when 120 head sold for $1,134,400, averaging $9,453.
The sale topper was Laddies Poker, a winning 3-year-old Stravinsky colt consigned by Havens Bloodstock as agent for the complete dispersal of Meadow Creek Ranch, which sold for a June sale record price of $525,000 to bloodstock agent Dennis O’Neill.
The single purchase made by O’Neill made him the leading buyer at the sale. The leading consignment was Havens’ Meadow Creek dispersal, which sold four head for $957,500
The second highest price came from the same consignment when Gilded, a 3-year-old group II-winning daughter of Redback was sold for $420,000 to Southern California trainer Paddy Gallagher.
A June record price for a 2-year-old in training was set when a California-bred daughter of first crop sire Aldebaran from the consignment of B.C.3. Thoroughbreds, sold for $120,000 to Southern California trainer Dan Hendricks, agent for Frank Scardino.
