Champion sire Zabeel will stand at New Zealand's Cambridge Stud at a reduced fee of $NZ85,000, plus GST.

Cambridge Stud has lowered service fees of all its stallions, said owner Sir Patrick Hogan, stressing that it was important for all farms to address the current state of the breeding industry.

"The economic conditions at present are not exactly buoyant and the returns at this year's yearling sales throughout Australasia demonstrated that," he said. "It is important for studs to give breeders the opportunity to make a profit margin from their investment on stallion services and that is why we have dropped the fees for every stallion that stood at Cambridge Stud last year. "In addition we have limited the size of every stallion's book as many breeders have indicated to me in recent years that they would like to see all studs doing this."

Zabeel's fee has been reduced from $NZ110,000 (plus GST), and he will be limited to a book of 120 mares
