Go Deputy, a millionaire and grade I turf winner, has been retired from racing for stallion duty at Mike and Norma Rattray's Lammerskraal Stud in South Africa. The 7-year-old son of Deputy Minister remains in quarantine and his fee has not been determined.
Campaigned as a homebred for brothers Alain and Gerard Wertheimer in the name Wertheimer et Frere, Go Deputy was one of the top turf runners of 2006. He captured the Sword Dancer Invitational Stakes (gr. IT) and Bowling Green Handicap (gr. IIT) and placed in six graded stakes, including the Man o' War (gr. IT), Gulfstream Park Breeders' Cup (gr. IT), and Pattison Canadian International (Can-IT) Stakes. He retired with six wins from 19 races and earnings of $1,118,640.
Go Deputy, who was produced from the Secretariat mare Partygoer, is a half-brother to grade I winner and millionaire Dare and Go.
