Falbrav Flies to Prix d'Ispahan Victory

Expertly guided by jockey Kieren Fallon, Falbrav won his first race since joining Newmarket-based trainer Luca Cumani, taking the about Prix d'Ispahan (Fr-I) at Longchamp Sunday .

The Japan Cup winner for his former Italian connections, Falbrav raced in mid-pack most of the way. He found room on the inside in the straightaway and Fallon guided him through an opening to take command more than furlong from home. He defeated last year's French Oaks winner Bright Sky and jockey Dominique Boeuf by 1 1/2 length. Bright Sky closed in the straight to mount a challenge with two furlongs to go, but could not get to the winner.

Carnival Dancer, with Pat Eddery in the irons was three lengths farther behind in third place in the field of eight. The about 1 1/8-mile event was completed in 1:51.

Owned by Scuderia Rencati and T. Yoshida, the Irish-bred 5-year-old Falbrav is by Fairy King-Gift of the Night (Slewpy). He was making his second start for Cumani after a third-place showing in the Group I Prix Ganay at Longchamp on April 27.
