Bushfire, a 2006 Eclipse Award finalist for 3-year-old filly, has been retired from racing, according to trainer Eddie Kenneally.
"She's sound, but wasn't the same type of filly as last year," he said. "She's at a Kentucky farm and will sell at the Keeneland November sale."
Bushfire won last year's Ashland Stakes (gr. I) over divisional champion Wait a While, the Mother Goose Stakes (gr. I) over divisional runner-up Pine Island, and the Acorn Stakes (gr. I) and Florida Oaks. She ran third in the Kentucky Oaks (gr. I), but was disqualified and placed sixth.
Bred in Florida by Moreau Bloodstock International and Mandolynn Hill Farm, Bushfire was bought privately by Kenneally for owners Ron and Ricki Rashinski. She retired with six wins from 13 races and earnings of $802,507.
Bushfire (Louis Quatorze--Traki Traki, by Mo Power) is a half-sister to stakes winners Frosty's Girl, Frosty's On Track, and Maracaibo.
