(Edited NYRA press release)
The New York Racing Association has requested and received approval from the New York State Racing and Wagering Board to conduct pre-race sampling of all horses participating in the Belmont Stakes on June 7.

As a result, the NYRA will alter security procedures for the race. All horses entered in the race must be stabled at Belmont Park no later than 3 p.m. on June 6.

Trainers with horses in the race not allotted stalls on the grounds will be required to stable at Barn 5 at Belmont Park, unless otherwise authorized by Mike Lakow, NYRA's Racing Secretary.

NYRA's investigative staff will work with the Nassau County Police Department, the Thoroughbred Racing and Protective Bureau and the New York State Racing and Wagering Board to monitor those horses prior to the running of the Belmont Stakes.

Practicing veterinarians treating horses with Salix (lasix) will be required to use new, sealed bottles from which to draw the administration at the prescribed time.
