Equine Spectrum, founded this summer by Coolmore/Ashford Stud, Eaton Sales, Lane's End Farm, Taylor Made Farms, and Three Chimneys Farm, will hold its first online auction Dec. 13. The stallion season auction on the Internet will include seasons to some of the most sought-after stallions in the world, including Danzig and Saint Ballado.
Tom Biederman, a Fasig-Tipton Co. auctioneer, has been tabbed as executive director for the sale. Biederman said Equine Spectrum won't compete with the major Thoroughbred auction companies but will instead offer buyers and sellers a chance to increase liquidity and broaden private sale markets.
Equine Spectrum will have its web site up and running by Nov. 3. The list of offerings for the stallion-season auction will be available Dec. 6. Kirsten Craft of Software Information Systems Inc. of Lexington is working on the technological aspects of the endeavor.
