West Point Thoroughbreds announced Oct. 2 that three of the stable’s grade 1-winning fillies--Dream Rush, Irish Smoke, and Lear’s Princess--have been entered in the Fasig-Tipton Kentucky November mixed sale Nov. 4. Hill ‘n’ Dale Sales will act as agent for all three fillies.
“All three fillies will run in Breeders’ Cup races at Monmouth Park later this month, and we are fortunate to be in this situation,” West Point Thoroughbreds president Terry Finley said. “We will carefully evaluate their performance and the needs and desires of our partners, Lewis Lakin and John Sikura, our investors, and our shareholders as we approach the sale date.”
Said Hill ‘n’ Dale Sales president John Sikura: “This is a unique opportunity to sell a group of fillies of this quality. West Point Thoroughbreds and Lewis Lakin have had a great year at the racetrack, and we are pleased they have chosen us to sell their racing stars.”
Irish Smoke (by Smoke Glacken), owned by West Point and Lakin and winner of the grade I Spinaway Stakes at Saratoga, is entered in the Oct. 5 Alcibiades Stakes (gr. I) on opening day of the Keeneland fall meet. Dream Rush (by Wild Rush) is among the top female sprinters in the country, while Lear’s Princess (by Lear Fan) defeated Belmont Stakes (gr. I) winner Rags to Riches in the Gazelle Stakes (gr. I) at Belmont Park.
Fasig-Tipton in an earlier release noted Dream Rush as among the grade I-winning fillies entered in the Kentucky November sale.
