Great Weather Forecast for Breeders' Cup Day

The 10-day forecast from the National Weather Service is calling for partly cloudy skies and a temperature of 72 on Saturday, Nov. 4 in Louisville, Ky. Which means a possibility Breeders' Cup XVII could see a record crowd.

The record is held by Churchill Downs, which will be hosting the Breeders' Cup for a record fifth time. In 1988, when the temperature was 54 degrees, 80,452 patrons were on track.

In 1994, it was 75 degrees in Louisville when 71,671 fans were at Churchill; in 1991 a crowd of 66,024 watched the races on a chilly day when the high was 43 degrees.

The first time the event was held at Churchill, in 1988, it was 50 degrees and drizzly when 71,237 were on hand.

The National Weather Service is calling for days in the high-60s to low-70s every day between now and Breeders' Cup Day, with a chance of showers on only three of the next 10 days.
