No Trouble for Toylsome in Prix de la Foret

Toylsome swept to the lead at the start and never looked back as he captured the Prix de la Foret Casino Barriere de Biarritz (Fr-I) at 100-1 odds at Longchamp Oct. 6.

A champion and multiple stakes winner in his native Germany, Toylsome was mainly known for being the pacesetter for his famous stablemate, Manduro. Given a chance to shine on an international stage, the 8-year-old horse eclipsed all expectations, drawing away in the stretch to win easily by 2 1/2 lengths under Stephane Pasquier.

British invader Welsh Emperor, another 8-year-old, got up for second, with Marchand D’Or three-quarters of a length back in third. Final time for the seven furlongs was 1:22.5 over a soft turf course.

Toylsome’s victory was a bright spot for owner Baron Georg von Ullmann, who saw his star, Manduro, suffer a career-ending injury when winning the Prix Foy Gray d’Albion Barriere (Fr-II) last month.  When speaking of his Prix de la Foret winner, von Ullmann stated, “It was a shock, but a very positive shock. It’s nice to see such horses can win on Arc weekend. He deserves it. He is a great horse who always tries.”

Toylsome was bred in Great Britain by Serpentine Bloodstock. He is by Cadeaux Genereux out of Treasure Trove, by The Minstrel.
