Pari-Mutuel Simulcast of Breeders' Cup Comes to Brazil

The pari-mutuel simulcast of the Breeders’ Cup World Championships will be offered in Brazil for the first time via Carnegie Cooke & Co., the media and distribution company that offers pari-mutuel services in the country said in a release.

Through its broadcast arrangement with Northern Kentucky-based Charlson Broadcast Technologies, Carnegie Cooke will offer at its facilities in Campos, Macae, and Niteroi the Breeders’ Cup World Championships races Oct. 26-27 from Monmouth Park, the company said in a release. All wagers will be commingled into United States pari-mutuel pools via AmTote International’s Maryland hub.

Bettors in Brazil will be able to wager on the Breeders’ Cup Ultra Pick 6, the company said.

Carnegie Cooke’s Brazilian subsidiary is granted the right by the Brazilian Association of Jockey Clubs and by endorsement of the Brazilian Department of Agriculture to distribute international simulcast racing throughout Brazil. The company works along with CBT to provide signals and wagering technology to off-track betting parlors in various parts of the country.

CBT devised a program whereby all wagers are tracked and a percentage of revenue returned to all parties, which isn’t the case at all wagering outlets in the country.

“Carnegie Cooke will offer real-track odds and no limits on payouts, Carnegie Cooke director of communications Flavio Jardim said in a release. “Our patrons will not have limits on traditional wager types like exactas, daily doubles, win, place, or show, nor the exotic-wager types like the trifecta, and the new the 10-cent superfecta.”

Carnegie Cooke last year extended the length of its exclusive agreement with the Jockey Club of Campos through 2013. The relationship permits Carnegie Cooke to open its own OTB parlors within the greater state of Rio in Brazil.
