Unbeaten champion Vindication has rebounded so well from a mid-winter leg injury that he is walking under tack at Satish and Anne Sanan's Padua Stables near Summerfield, Fla. If he continues to progress as well as he has, the son of Seattle Slew could be ready to start jogging in two or three weeks.
"We believe the innovative hyperbaric oxygen therapy and stem cell therapy under the direct supervision of Dr. Doug Herthel was of great benefit to him," said general manager Nadia Sanan.
Vindication, who injured a suspensory ligament Feb. 4, was examined by Herthel at Alamo Pintado Equine Medical Center near Los Olivos, Calif., the week of the mishap and was sent to Padua the end of March.
Vindication, who was produced from the Strawberry Road mare Strawberry Reason, scored his big win in last year's Bessemer Trust Breeders' Cup Juvenile (gr. I) and was top-weighted at 126 pounds on the Experimental Free Handicap. No timetable has been set for a return to the races.
